Geography
Area:
17,820 sq. km. (6,880 sq. mi.); approximately the size of the State of New Jersey.
Situated northeast of Saudi Arabia at the northern end of the Persian Gulf, south of Iraq.
Cities: Capital --Kuwait City
Terrain: Almost entirely flat desert plain (highest elevation point--306 m).
Climate: Summers are intensely hot and dry with average highs ranging from 42 o - 49 o C (108 o - 120 o F); winters are short (Dec.-Feb.) and cool, averaging 10 o - 30 o C (50 o - 80 o F), with limited rain. Weather in Kuwait during the month of April is worm and may cool at night.

Culture
Kuwait's culture is firmly rooted in the Islamic traditions. However Kuwait is very tolerant of the customs of its visitors and is relatively liberal when it comes to dress codes. Among the most highly prized virtues are courtesy and hospitality, visitors are sure to be charmed by the friendliness of the people.

Language
The official language of the country is Arabic, although English is the official business language.  English is widely used and most road and shop signs, restaurant menus, etc are in both languages.

Public Transportation
The easiest and cheapest way is to catch a taxi cab; these are available throughout the country. They all operate on a meter system (Buses are not recommended).
